Baki-Lex Legal
Terms of Service
Last updated: 28 July 2026
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Baki-Lex, including its reading, translation, account and subscription features.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service form an agreement between you and Baki-Lex concerning your use of the Baki-Lex website, application and related services.
By creating an account, purchasing a subscription or using Baki-Lex, you agree to these Terms of Service and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use Baki-Lex.
2. The Baki-Lex service
Baki-Lex is a language-learning reading platform. It allows users to upload supported books and documents, read them through an interactive reader and obtain translations for selected words or phrases.
Certain features may be available only to registered users or paid subscribers. Feature availability, upload limits, file-size limits and supported formats may depend on your account plan.
Baki-Lex does not sell or supply the books linked through external book retailers or public-domain websites. Purchases and downloads from those websites are separate transactions between you and the relevant third party.
3. Eligibility
You must be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement to use Baki-Lex.
If you are below the age at which you may enter into an online-service agreement in your country, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept these terms on your behalf.
You must not use Baki-Lex where doing so would violate applicable law.
4. Accounts and security
You may need to create an account to access certain Baki-Lex features.
You agree to provide accurate and current information and to keep your account information updated.
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your password and login credentials confidential.
- Activities performed through your account.
- Using reasonable measures to prevent unauthorised access.
- Notifying Baki-Lex promptly if you suspect that your account has been compromised.
You must not share, sell, transfer or otherwise make your account available to another person without our permission.
5. Subscriptions and payments
Baki-Lex may offer free features, trial access and paid subscription plans.
Subscription prices, billing periods and included features will be shown before you complete a purchase.
When you purchase a recurring subscription, you authorise the payment provider to charge the applicable subscription fee at the beginning of each billing period until the subscription is cancelled.
Taxes may be added where required by law.
Payment processing may be provided by a third-party payment provider. That provider may apply separate payment terms and privacy practices.
Baki-Lex will not introduce an additional charge without displaying the relevant price and obtaining any consent required by applicable law.
6. Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel a recurring subscription through the account or billing page where that option is available, or by contacting customer support.
Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase, cancellation prevents future renewal charges and your paid access will normally continue until the end of the current billing period.
Refund eligibility depends on the circumstances of the purchase and any mandatory rights available under applicable consumer law.
Nothing in these terms removes any cancellation, refund or withdrawal right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
7. Uploaded books and documents
You retain any rights you hold in books, documents and other content that you upload to Baki-Lex.
You grant Baki-Lex a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, process, display and otherwise use uploaded content only as reasonably necessary to:
- Provide the reading service.
- Extract and display text from supported files.
- Generate translations and reading tools.
- Save your books and reading progress where supported.
- Maintain, secure and troubleshoot the service.
This licence ends when the uploaded content is deleted from our active systems, subject to reasonable technical backup periods and any legal retention requirements.
You are solely responsible for your uploaded content and for ensuring that it does not violate law, copyright, privacy, confidentiality or the rights of another person.
8. Copyright and third-party rights
You must have permission or another lawful basis to upload and use a book, document or other file through Baki-Lex.
Purchasing a book does not necessarily give you the right to copy, distribute or upload it to an online service. You are responsible for understanding the licence and copyright restrictions that apply to each file.
You must not use Baki-Lex to distribute copyrighted material unlawfully or to provide unauthorised access to books or documents.
Baki-Lex may remove or restrict access to content where we reasonably believe that it infringes copyright or another legal right.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Baki-Lex to:
- Break any law or encourage unlawful activity.
- Upload material that you do not have permission to use.
- Infringe copyright, trade marks, privacy, confidentiality or other rights.
- Upload malware, malicious code or content intended to damage systems.
- Attempt to bypass account, subscription, upload, security or usage restrictions.
- Access another user’s account or information without permission.
- Interfere with the availability, security or operation of the service.
- Use automated scripts, bots or scraping systems in a manner that places an unreasonable burden on Baki-Lex.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract source code except where such restriction is prohibited by law.
- Resell, sublicense or commercially exploit Baki-Lex without written permission.
- Use the service to harass, threaten, deceive or harm another person.
10. Translations and learning tools
Translations, definitions, language suggestions and other learning tools are generated for educational and informational purposes.
Machine-generated translations may be incomplete, inaccurate or unsuitable for a particular context. You should not rely on Baki-Lex translations for legal, medical, financial, immigration, safety or other high-stakes decisions.
Baki-Lex does not guarantee that every word, phrase, document or language will be translated accurately or successfully.
11. Third-party services and links
Baki-Lex may use or link to third-party services, including payment providers, authentication providers, translation services, hosting providers, book retailers and public-domain libraries.
Third-party services are operated independently and may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Baki-Lex is not responsible for the availability, content, pricing, transactions or practices of an external website or service.
12. Baki-Lex intellectual property
Baki-Lex and its licensors retain all rights in the Baki-Lex platform, including its software, design, branding, logo, interfaces, original text and related materials.
Subject to these terms, Baki-Lex grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the service for lawful personal purposes.
These terms do not transfer ownership of Baki-Lex software or intellectual property to you.
13. Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep Baki-Lex available and functioning, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.
The service may be unavailable because of maintenance, updates, technical faults, security concerns, third-party outages or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We may add, remove or change features where reasonably necessary. Where a change materially affects a paid subscription, we will provide any notice or remedy required by applicable law.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Baki-Lex at any time. You may request account closure by contacting customer support or using an account-deletion feature where available.
We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because:
- You materially breach these terms.
- Your use creates a security, legal or operational risk.
- Payment for a subscription is overdue or fails.
- Your activity harms or threatens another user, Baki-Lex or a third party.
- We are required to do so by law.
Where appropriate and legally required, we will provide notice and a reasonable opportunity to address the issue before termination.
Serious misuse, fraud, unlawful activity or an immediate security threat may result in suspension without advance notice.
15. Disclaimers
Baki-Lex is provided with reasonable care and skill and subject to rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that:
- The service will always be available, uninterrupted or free from errors.
- Every supported file will upload, process or display correctly.
- Translations or extracted text will always be accurate.
- Baki-Lex will meet every individual learning objective.
- External book sources or third-party services will remain available.
Baki-Lex is a learning and reading tool. It does not provide professional educational, legal, financial, medical or other regulated advice.
16. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Subject to those protections, Baki-Lex will not be responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you agreed to these terms, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.
Baki-Lex is intended primarily for personal and educational use. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, we are not responsible for business losses, loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of business opportunity or business interruption.
You remain responsible for maintaining copies of important books, documents and information. You should not treat Baki-Lex as your only storage or backup service.
17. Consumer rights
You may have mandatory rights under the consumer laws of the country where you live.
Nothing in these terms limits or removes a legal right that cannot lawfully be excluded or waived. If any part of these terms conflicts with a mandatory consumer-protection rule, the mandatory rule will apply.
18. Governing law and disputes
Before publishing this section, replace the bracketed text below with the country and, where relevant, state or province in which the Baki-Lex business is legally established.
These terms are governed by the laws of [insert country and jurisdiction], except that mandatory consumer laws in your place of residence may still apply.
We encourage you to contact us first so that we can try to resolve any concern informally.
Any dispute may be brought before the courts that have jurisdiction under applicable law. Nothing in these terms prevents a consumer from using a court or dispute-resolution process available under mandatory local law.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service when Baki-Lex, our subscriptions, our technology or applicable laws change.
Updated terms will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
Where a change materially affects your rights or a paid service, we will provide reasonable notice where required by law.
Your continued use of Baki-Lex after updated terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated terms, except where applicable law requires another form of consent.
